I’m Abby and I live near Jesmond Dene and honestly it’s like a second home to me, I know all the paths and secret spots from walking my dog, Belle (who stars in my About Me tiktok!) I love taking in the nature and spying out for wildlife (I’ve actually seen deer there). I’m a dog walker so I spend most of my time out and about in parks across Newcastle with the best canine company! Basically, a love for all things animals and nature will always take a good chunk of my heart.
My passion for the environment probably started way back when I was little helping my dad out in the garden. Looking back, I was probably more of a nuisance than a help, but those afternoons really taught me the importance of nature.
We’d pick apples from our tree to make apple pie, I convinced my dad to help me plant wildflowers for the bees and I’d build hedgehog houses and insect hotels that I’d seen on Blue Peter or something like that. Yeah, I was one of those kids.
Ever since then I’ve had this view that the least we can do is give nature a helping hand. Humans have destroyed habitats, polluted the ones leftover and then hunted and abused the wildlife that managed to survive all of that horror.
The least we can do to help protect our nature. And learn how and try to live a greener, more sustainable lifestyle.
Because litter, roadkill, hunting, pollution, climate change and ecological disasters aren’t lurking in the shadows anymore, they’re here, and they’re here to stay unless we make serious changes.
And change always starts with the people.
