Introducing Amelia Lane

As an aspiring student journalist, I have spent time exploring a lot of different aspects of student life. Some that I have developed a strong emotional attachment to, some that I have wanted to write about and share with others. The last couple of years have taught me a lot about how I am as a person and the type of journalist I want to be. Welcome to my web page! As mentioned before, currently I am an undergraduate at Newcastle University studying journalism, media and culture. I moved up to the North just over a year ago from Oxford where I studied at Oxford High School throughout my senior school years. There, I took part in many different extra-curricular activities, ranging from sports to musical theatre. Throughout this time, I discovered my passion for writing. I took a year out after secondary education to travel the world and experience different cultures. I vlogged this trip in different parts, purely for my own personal entertainment, however, it led me to discover something that I was very passionate about, creating content and sharing it with others.

The main focus of this page is to inform current and future students of the financial aspects of student life that they may not have considered. My articles are going to cover topics surrounding budgeting, student perks and deals and the costs to consider when joining societies. I will cover aspects in regards to student loans and how you can navigate university financially, whatever your personal budget may be. Essentially, I’m hoping to bring you up to speed with how to manage your money at university. This page will also be useful for parents who are completely lost as to how to delegate and save money for their child who is looking into further education. I’m hoping that it gives you an in depth oversight into student life and enable you to understand how the typical student in 2024 chooses to prioritise their money.
