I visited all of the best and the worst food spots in town so you wouldn’t have to. Of course, I’ll only show you the best…
1. Pizza Francessca’s

Pizza Francessca’s is any student living in Jesmond’s go-to to take your parents to or sweet little date night spot. The menu is extremely versatile ranging from Italian classics of chicken alfredo to stone baked pizzas. Whether you’re fancying a wine night with pasta or a casual pizza date, Francessca’s has something lined up for you.

2. Aidan’s Kitchen
With their large portioned breakfasts, fantastic sweet pastries and superb speciality coffee, it is another Jesmond and Sandyford student secret that, Aidan’s kitchen is definitely not one to miss. The prices are a little bit much, however if you have it, the food and coffee is most definitely worth the extra pennies.
One thing I’ll shamelessly advocate for (especially when it comes to independent businesses) is a pumpkin spiced latte. Aidan’s Kitchen do a mean PSL, serenaded with a tall hat of cream and cinnamon. It’s definitely the right start to any morning.

3. Tiny Tiny, Carliol Square
Tinies is THE place for hangover brunch, coffee dates and any time sweet treats. Pop down and give their awesome menu a go, they range from Shakshuka to simple avo-toast. There’s something for everyone.

4. Pink Lane Bakery
I don’t know about you but I am a sucker for a freshly baked sweet treat and a cappucino. The Breakfast at Tiffany’s movie fiend needs to be satisfied by a large Pain au Chocolate and a delicious coffee, thankfully Pink Lane does it every time.

These are my top four indie spots to visit in the Toon! Next time you’re in the mood for good food and independent coffee, check out these spots to satisfy that desire.
