Our first stop is Flat White, now I know what you\u2019re thinking, this is the top spot for tourists and it\u2019s always crammed to the brim. However, the solution is you\u2019re just not going early enough! The best time to come is 10am, this way you dodge the hangry tourists and find a seat in a nice cozy corner to enjoy your pear and cinnamon pancakes or your wonderful eggs florentine accompanied by a hot drink from the lengthy drinks menu and satisfy your main character needs by the window with a good book.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Durham Cathedral, Durham<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now I would recommend Durham Castle as a fantastic place of historical culture, however, as a student, I am way too far into my overdraft to be paying an entry fee for anywhere. So instead I\u2019ll offer you Durham Cathedral, a beautiful setting rich with religious and patriotic culture and history. This is only a swift ten minute walk from Flat White, so you aren\u2019t far enough to stroll around the area and appreciate the beauty of the cathedral and perhaps buy a little monk bear from the Cathedral gift shop.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Circle Vintage, Durham<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking to find some fantastic fashion finds pouring out with historical love and retro vibes, Circle Vintage is the place to drop into. On your way back down from the Cathedral pop in and find an authentic leather jacket or a quirky vintage shirt to spice up your wardrobe.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Durham University\u2019s Botanical Garden, Durham<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re missing the bright greenery and warmness of the summer and you feel as though your winter seasonal depression is consuming you. Take a leaf out of Durham University\u2019s Botanical Garden and transport to a hotter country. Sit in the greenhouses and photosynthesise with these lush plants that are beautifully maintained and full of interesting information about how they grow.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
