Embracing change:Integrating online learning with traditional offline classrooms

In the past, students were accustomed to the traditional offline classroom learning model. However, with the rise of the internet, online education has gradually emerged and been widely applied in students’ learning processes. According to Growth Engineering, eLearning is the fastest-growing sector in the education industry, with a growth rate of 900% since 2000. This shift has made us aware of some limitations of traditional offline classrooms. To explore how to break the conventional understanding of classrooms and step out of the comfort zone of offline learning, this news report interviews three representatives from different perspectives.

As a student, Magda Wu believes that, compared to offline classrooms, the greatest advantages of online learning are its flexibility and efficiency. On the other hand, Xinwen Wang, a primary school Chinese teacher from China, discusses the challenges of online teaching and shares the strategies she has implemented to address them. Finally, Andrew Grenfell, the Open Learning Resources Manager at Newcastle University, offers further insights. He believes that a blended learning approach, which combines the strengths of traditional classrooms with the conveniences of online learning, will achieve better educational outcomes in the future.
