I’m Brooke, a Scottish student hoping to celebrate Scotland’s rich fashion landscape and the creativity it fosters. My love for vintage and archival fashion is reflected in my wardrobe, which I’d say consists of 90% second hand and thrifted pieces – mostly acquired from Tireless hours scrolling eBay and Vinted [oh no! silly champagne problems].

Beyond fashion, I’m a big fan of film photography and any creative outlet that allows me to express and explore unique perspectives – probably stemming from my 16 years as a dancer before I swapped pointe shoes for further education!

My creative pursuits inspire my vision for Nord, a project rooted in frustration with the idea that being a successful creative often requires a London residency. As a proud Scot, I along with many other people in similar positions find it disheartening that opportunities for northern talent remain sparse despite the undeniable wealth of creativity here. For many in Scotland, London unfortunately isn’t a feasible or possible daily commute, yet it is often seen as the default hub for the British fashion world.
Through Nord I am to spotlight those who have championed the fashion landscape from outside the capital, showcasing talent in the face of these challenges. I want to draw attention to up-and-coming creatives in the Scottish and broader northern fashion scenes. This project is as much about sharing their work with a wider audience as it is about deepening my own understanding of what it means to thrive as a northern creative.
Sustainability and a commitment to local talent and craftsmanship are at the heart of my project, and I hope Nord inspires others to appreciate the artistry and talent that exists and thrives beyond London’s boarders.
