About Me
Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Dan and I am a second-year journalism student at Newcastle University.
I’m also gay.
I aim to use this website to bring you all the updates and advice possible with regard to the Toon’s gay scene. Whether it be through sharing ways to find friends within the LGBTQ+ community or recommending safe spaces for your next night out, Canny Queries will be your go-to read (alongside your studies, of course).
When I first moved to Newcastle, I was only accustomed with the meagre and limited gay scene of my hometown of Worcester. That is not to discredit smaller communities but it goes without saying that the adjustment to the vibrant nightlife and opportunities in this city was slightly overwhelming. I would love to make this transition a less daunting process for those in the same position – if anything, it is so exciting!
Hopefully, through my research, I too will learn even more about what is on offer for young queer people here in Newcastle. I’m so excited to see what CannyQueeries brings.
Be sure to stay tuned!
