Hi! I’m Ellie, a second-year journalism student studying in Newcastle, with a love for all things travel and wandering. Since before I can remember, I have been exploring different corners of the world, accompanied by family and friends. But along the way, I began to question the idea of ‘travel’ that I was so sure about. As I grew older, and I’m sure most of you can relate, I began to realise that the world wasn’t as safe for women as I thought, especially in different cities and countries. Was I truly safe when travelling, or had the company I travelled with made me safe?
Alongside this, the idea of ethical travel began to weigh on my mind. I found myself considering whether I had been a sustainable and responsible tourist and whether my impact on the places I had travelled was positive and aware.
My mission within my website is to offer advice and aid in educating you in how to travel solo safely as a woman, remaining safe but still having the time of your life! That is what travelling is about. Statistically, over 76% of travellers say they wish to make their personal travel more sustainable. My passion is helping people travel ethically, give back and respect this beautiful world that we live on.
My Instagram handle is @foruswhowander, where I’ll be giving you an exciting day-to-day insight into the behind the scenes of my life and travel. If there is anything in particular regarding solo female and ethical travel that you would like me to write about, please let me know by dropping me a comment either on here or on my Instagram page.
