I&#8217;m Ellie, a second-year journalism student studying in Newcastle, with a love for all things travel and wandering. Since before I can remember, I have been exploring different corners of the world, accompanied by family and friends. But along the way, I began to question the idea of &#8216;travel&#8217; that I was so sure about. As I grew older, and I&#8217;m sure most of you can relate, I began to realise that the world wasn&#8217;t as safe for women as I thought, especially in different cities and countries. Was I truly safe when travelling, or had the company I travelled <em>with<\/em> made me safe?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside this, the idea of ethical travel began to weigh on my mind. That is what travelling is about. Statistically, over 76% of travellers say they wish to make their personal travel more sustainable.
