You’ve already done the hard part, well done. Freshly moved into your new accommodation in a new city (arguably the best) and slowly adjusting to your new life as a university student in Newcastle. Here’s a simple guide to a memorable, depending on how many trebs you inhale, Wednesday night out on the Toon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Whether you’ve been brave enough to join a society yet or not, believe me, going out on a Wednesday sports night is guaranteed to bring you some laughs. Despite not being involved in any of the university sports societies myself, I can assure you that it won’t hold you back. From bed sheets to nappies, no ‘outfit’ is too much (or too little), so there’s no need to worry about whether your lip liner needs touching up.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

No doubt you’ll be within a stone’s throw of a Tesco Express, whether you’re living in Portland Green or Wellington Plaza. So to start the night right, all you’ll need is whatever spirit of choice works out cheapest on Clubcard and the biggest bottle of own brand squash you can get your hands on. Then it’s time to bond some more with your flatmates as you host pre drinks in your (probably messy) kitchen. If you’re still feeling slightly awkward you can whip out some playing cards and have a quick game of Ring of Fire. Simple and easy.<\/p>\n\n

Time to down those far too generously poured drinks and head down to Big Market, where all the real fun begins. Depending on your vibe, you could end up at Cosy Joes, Tropicana, or, of course, the bar that holds a special place in my heart, Market Shaker. Either way you wont be able to escape hearing\u00a0at least\u00a0<\/em>one Sam Fender song all night.\u00a0Is\u00a0there anything better than dancing to the soundtrack of Abba whilst you’re attempting to order you and your mates 3 for 9 trebs? I guess it’s worth the wait in the never-ending queue. However, remember you’re always bound to bump into someone you know so don’t take it too far!<\/p>\n\n

Now it’s time to scan those club entry tickets you bought about a week ago, that is if you can actually see straight to attempt to find them. If you’re a Northumbria student, the chances are you’ll probably be found in Howlers. On the other hand, if you’re also a Newcastle student, like me, then its either going to be Soho or Tup Tup. No matter which club you find yourself busting some moves in, it’s hard not to love when you’ve already spent less than a weeks food shop.<\/p>\n\n

Just before you trek all the way back to your overpriced student accommodation (or order an Uber, if you’re lucky enough that your parents send you pocket money) you HAVE to stop off at a takeaway. Personally, I think Yummies deserves all the love. For your cheesy, garlic chip fix it’s the place to go (If you’re extra friendly you might even get put on aux). After all, it’s probably best to save the Gregg’s sausage rolls as a post-lecture treat. That can be tomorrows hangover cure.<\/p>\n\n\n
