About

Hello everyone and welcome to Reads between The Tyne.

My name is Grace and I am a student at Newcastle University studying Journalism, Media and culture and I have created this page as a part of my Journalism Practice for Digital Audiences module.

A bit about me is that I am from Cambridge, and I moved up here to the North-East over a year ago. Alongside my degree I am an editor for Newcastle University’s paper The Courier and I run the Media and Journalism society I co-founded.

Away from University I love to go to the market, try out new coffee shops, go for day trips to nearby towns and I also LOVE to read! Reading has been a big hobby of mine for the last couple years after rediscovering it during lockdown.

My personal tastes are more fiction and my go to genre is currently dark academia as its more satisfying to read in the coming autumn and winter months. But as a mood reader this fluctuates and changes constantly!

A favourite book of mine that I recently read was Yellowface by R.F Kuang which I loved because it’s about an author and the publishing industry so I was enjoying all the aspects of the literary comments and her lifestyle as well as the plotline. If you know you know!

This page is going to be about the bookish community and publishing industry in the north-east. I am interested in local established and aspiring authors, our local bookshops, as well as events, libraries, and book clubs.

This page is going to be a place to share news and stories of people and the . I hope to reach a community where we can grow local book lovers not just online but also in person. Sharing our interests and the stories that we love most

Please share this page as well as following my social media!
