And maybe some inspiration for what you can do next week!
Monday
The week started out with a bang at Space Mondays at The Cut after a very long seven-hour stint in the university library. Okay, that’s a lie. Not the part about the seven-hour stint, I was nearly on death’s door after that, but the part about the week starting out with a bang? I may have bent the truth there a little.
Space Mondays may have been the weirdest experience of my life. The event consisted of two rooms, both playing indie anthems, with one of them being so full that you physically could not move while the other was a ghost town.
If ghost towns projected strobe lights and played Seventeen Going Under.
So, not a great start, and the forty minute walk home wasn’t exactly the cherry on the top either, or the £5 I had to fork out for the ticket. Nevertheless, onto Tuesday.
Tuesday
I have very little to report on Tuesday, aside from the usual panic-writing and general rage-induced study sessions as I scramble to complete my deadlines.
I did however attend something called ‘body pump’; forty-five minutes of weightlifting and squatting to very loud, very bad SoundCloud remixes.
However, the classes are included in the £165 yearly fitness membership at Newcastle University Sports Centre. Not a bad price point for a gym membership; therefore, I will be attending every week until it runs out.
Wednesday
On Wednesday myself and my housemates stayed in and watched some bad reality TV (The Secret Life of Mormon Wives on Disney+ is almost always on in our house now) and I ended the day by starting a new book, The Handmaid’s Tale (cheerful, I know).
Thursday
I was thrilled to wake up to snow on Thursday and equally disappointed when it melted two hours later, however that did mean that I finally got to do the food shop that I had been putting off for four weeks.

There is simply no joy like having a real meal for tea after the selection of random cupboard items I have been living off of for the last month.
That night I joined some friends for a night of pool at Hustler, the games of which I won none. I even lost nearly £7 buying a pint of cider in there, so not a great night for my ego.
Nonetheless it was a good night which we ended with a quick pint in spoons (much more my price point). And I was thrilled to see that it was snowing again when we left!
I returned home just in time to get a Bailey’s hot chocolate off of one of my housemates and we settled in to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol (available on Disney+).
Friday
Friday was another big day for getting work done including carrying out two interviews for some upcoming articles.
Afterwards, however, I joined my friends at the Christmas markets, which were so packed you could barely move. I could not tell the crowd from the queues but it still sufficed to supply the Christmas spirit we had gotten ourselves into the day prior.
We then headed to spoons afterwards and spent the rest of the evening chatting over a few pints.
The Weekend
Unfortunately, there is little to report on the weekend since I worked for all of it! However, I did manage to get a brief but greatly appreciated walk around Jesmond Dene in before my Sunday afternoon shift which was very enjoyable in the crisp winter weather we’ve been having.
