Starting out the week with a boring one, but really, who can be bothered on a Monday? I am not a first year anymore. Tropiloco is not on the list these days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hancock<\/a> is though, where I went for a quick pint with some fellow\u00a0media and journalism society committee members to discuss our next social after a day of staring at a screen,\u00a0editing for the university paper.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sorry for the boring start, but let’s get into it now…<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Christmas has arrived (at least in my house) where we decorated our tree exactly one month before the big day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you\u2019re wondering where to get a Christmas tree on a uni student budget, it\u2019s Argos. It was less than \u00a320 for a 4ft tree and baubles to accompany it! <\/p>\n\n\n Of course, tree decorating meant Christmas tunes, Baileys hot chocolates and Home Alone that evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n It happened. The day we\u2019ve all been waiting for. Literally two months into the semester, I finally attended sports night. Honestly, it was not bad at all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I usually hate the bars and clubs that sports night consists of, it\u2019s why I don\u2019t bother with it that much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n However, being dressed as an army soldier, a bottle of wine deep, surrounded by 30 other girls also kitted out in their best camo makes Osbourne Road slightly more bearable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We visited Soho Jesmond<\/a> (so busy it was\u00a0like\u00a0fighting through a crowd crush),\u00a0Wonderbar<\/a>\u00a0(very fun,\u00a0and\u00a0three\u00a0trebs\u00a0for \u00a39), Market Shaker<\/a> (TERRIBLE, no atmosphere, terrible music, like going clubbing in your school cafeteria) and finally Tropicana<\/a> (an old reliable, with \u00a31\u00a0jagerbombs\u00a0before midnight), before ditching just before Soho, because I still can\u2019t bring myself to face that.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Surprise, surprise… more editing! Yet again I spent the entire day staring at a computer, putting together this week’s news section for the university paper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n That evening I returned home for a calm evening watching the new season of Stranger Things (it was not calm, I was terrified. How did I watch this stuff when I was 12?) <\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n After another big old day spent in university, it was time to relax a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We headed out to the Junk Royale pub to celebrate a friend\u2019s birthday where many pints were drank and many rounds of karaoke were sang (shout out to me who thought it was a good idea to sing \u2018Creep\u2019 by Radiohead). <\/p>\n\n\n\n We then headed to Casa<\/a> at The Social Club<\/a>\u00a0(which was honestly kind of terrifying, I think the boy to girl ration there is about 2:1) and then of course, stopped for a kebab before heading home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Weekend<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n My little sister came to visit on Saturday which meant I dropped \u00a330 on ice skating at the Centre for Life<\/a> (it was honestly kind of worth it though because it was so much fun) and then a further \u00a320 pound on our dinner at the Christmas Markets (the Yorkshire pudding wraps are NOT worth the hype but the Mac and Cheese stall is 1000% the best I\u2019ve ever tried).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n We then did a bit of Black Friday shopping around Eldon Square<\/a> before finishing the day off with a Five Guys burger before she left for home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/journalists.org.uk\/katy-woods\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25138\/2025\/12\/IMG_9252-1-1.jpg\")
