Welcome to my website!

Hello I’m Marina and I’m a second year University student at Newcastle University. Welcome to my website ‘Culture C(l)ash’.

I created this website to offer a space of news, articles and a place to get your information on the best ways and places to experience some culture in Newcastle. By ‘Culture’ I’m referring to the great food, music, film and art you can find in Newcastle. What sets this website a part from others, however, is that it will all be affordable and with the cost of living crisis in mind, so that students can go out and experience the Toon’s culture without having to spend too much money.

A little about me as a person, I’m from Belgium, Portugal and England but I grew up in Dubai and therefore love to travel and experience new places. One of my favourite things about going to new places is exposing myself to the cultural setting, as I think often the art, music, food etc is what makes a place so special. And Newcastle is no different! When I first moved to Newcastle I had no idea about all the amazing galleries, markets and live music it had to offer, but after living here for a year, I’ve made it my mission to experience it all!

Some of my personal favourite places I’ve been to include (but are certainly not limited to) the Tynemouth market – for a fun afternoon of bargain hunting, the Baltic art gallery – for some free and engaging art and ‘Hoochie Coochie’ – which satisfies my love for a great night of Jazz.

My hope for this website is to inspire more young people to go out, not just for the clubs and drinking culture, but to also experience the more hidden cultural and artistic side of Newcastle, in a way that is cost-effective – but memorable none the less.

So come along on this journey with me and please follow my social media to get updated on all my latest posts!
