A fresh start in a new city can be daunting for some. Add on the newfound pressures of being a university student, it’s easy to be absorbed into a lifestyle that puts your fitness on the back burner. Most of what makes up the foundations of life as a student in Newcastle, excessive drinking followed by an excessively greasy kebab, isn’t necessarily good for your health. That’s where I come in!
UniFit is your one stop tour for all that is fitness in the Newcastle area. Whether you’re a first year trying to find the best gym in the city to fit your needs. A second year looking to cut down the cost of food and have a balanced, nutritional diet that supports your workouts. Or you just need that little push so you can finally swap the beers for a barbell.
As a second year student myself who had to find their own way to make fitness work as a student, I know how hard it can be to be up and active after a long day of lectures or a deadly hangover. Over the coming weeks I will be populating this website with articles giving advice, tips, and interviews with some of the most knowledgeable people in Newcastle’s sport and fitness scene.
I believe that the gym should be a place accessible for all, no matter if you’re a complete beginner or have been working out for years. When you walk through those doors you become part of one big family of people trying to better themselves. If UniFit inspires even one person to go to the gym, or prepare a healthy meal then it will have succeeded.
