Two Newcastle parks win Green Flag awards: Urban Green Newcastle wins environmental and community accolades

Jesmond Dene & Exhibition Park Recognition

Jesmond Dene has been named one of the best managed parks and green spaces in the country for the 11th year in a row. Exhibition Park has now received this accolade for the fifth year in a row. These awards not only highlight the parks’ beautification and environmental improvements but also show Urban Green Newcastle’s long-term commitment to promoting the sustainable development of urban green spaces.

Urban Green Newcastle’s Mission

Urban Green Newcastle is a pioneering, independent charity established in collaboation with the local council in 2019. The organization is responsible for managing and maintaining 33 parks and over 60 allotments across the city, as well as nearly 60 buildings within the estate. As the charity that manages these outstanding parks, Urban Green Newcastle plays a key role in improving the quality of the city’s green spaces, enhancing community engagement and promoting environmental education.

Through innovative management methods and continuous investment, Urban Green Newcastle ensures that these parks are ecologically diverse and community-friendly. In addition, they actively encourage citizens to participate in the protection and improvement of urban green spaces, further promoting environmental awareness and participation in local communities.
