About Tyne and Books

Hi everyone and welcome to Tyne and Books!

My name is Noelia and I’m a Journalism, Media and Culture student at Newcastle University. This page is part of one of my modules, Journalism Practice for Digital Audiences.

I’m originally from the North of Spain, a city called León. I moved to the UK over a year ago to start university and since then I’ve fallen in love with the country and its culture. Alongside being a student, I am involved with Student Media here at Newcastle as I am one of the Sport Sub-Editors for The Courier Online.

Away from my degree, I love playing volleyball. I’ve been playing for a couple of years now and I have found my second family in the sports club. This year, I became their Social Media and Marketing Officer, having the opportunity to travel the whole country with the team.

But whenever I have some time for myself, I always try and read. I’ve been a bookworm since I was a child. For Christmas, my parents never gifted me toys but books and ever since then my library has been growing constantly.

As I’ve been growing, my book preferences have changed but currently my favourite genres are fantasy and contemporary romance. There’s nothing that can top a cozy romance during autunm.

One of my favourite book series is Shadowhunters written by Cassandra Clare. I have probably reread them five times and I’m currently in the middle of rereading them again. This series has accompanied me through dark times and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

This page is going to contain articles and news fa about the booking community here in the North-East of England. I’m interested in local established and aspiring authors, our local bookshops and events, libraries and book clubs hosted in the area.

I hope this page reaches a community where we can grow local book lovers not just online but also in person. Please share this page as well as following my social media!
