Grainger Market is a historic indoor market located in the centre of Newcastle on Grainger Street and is home to over 100 small businesses and independent traders. Within these businesses is a plethora of food stalls that offer some of Newcastle’s best cuisine. In this article, I will provide a rundown of the market’s best food options (in my humble opinion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acropolis Greek Street Food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First up on the list is Acropolis, your one-stop shop for Greek cuisine. From gyros to halloumi bites, Acropolis encapsulates the best of Greek culinary delights. Many of their gyros and wraps feature options like chicken, halloumi or grilled vegetables, ensuring a variety of choices for both vegan and vegetarian preferences. My personal favourite food item from the menu is the Dirty Greek, a delightful combination of loaded french fries and chicken gyros topped with their homemade tzatziki, chilli and their very own Acropolis signature sauce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slice, a student\u2019s saviour. With pizza slice prices starting from only \u00a32.50, Slice is pretty much impossible to resist when you find yourself wandering around the stalls of Grainger Market. The menu boasts a multitude of different toppings, catering to all tastes, from classic pepperoni to sausage and onion. The affordability, coupled with the wide selection, makes Slice a perfect spot for students and pizza lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up is Newcastle’s very first restaurant dedicated to mac and cheese- Redhead\u2019s Mac and Cheese. If you are in search of some serious comfort food, look no further. Redhead\u2019s Mac and Cheese offers a delicious array of options featuring toppings like chorizo and sticky rib. As a lover of Italian cuisine, my favourite is their Caprese Mac and Cheese adorned with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and mozzarella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bhel Puri, a budget-friendly and tasty dish on the menu, delivers a fiery flavour burst with a combination of ingredients including homemade chutneys, fresh vegetables and myriad spices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enjoy hot-pressed sandwiches, burritos, empanadas and rice bowls with pulled pork, beef, chicken, jackfruit and more. Every dish, including house-made hot sauces, is crafted from scratch using locally and ethically sourced ingredients for a delicious and sustainable dining experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
