It’s also known as mindfulness in Western psychology. In 2011, Britta K. Hölzel et al. found in an experimental study that mindfulness is associated with changes in the concentration of grey matter in the brain. These grey matter concentrations are involved in learning and memory processes, emotion regulation and self-referential processing. But do you know? Teachers in many universities are now introducing meditation into their classrooms. How does meditation develop when it moves from an individual practice to a group action in the classroom?

Dr. Mercy Ette from the University of Newcastle is one of those who chose to lead her students in meditation in class. She has been doing this for many years and has received various feedback from her students. They have different opinions on this. Some people think it’s useless, while others think it does help them better listen and study. So let’s listen to this audio and see what happens when meditation enters the classroom.

Also available on SoundCloud

This website is part of a student project.
