The tall front windows frame an unparalleled view of the riverfront and invite sunlight to dance across the whimsically garden-themed decor, where playful and pleasantly eccentric touches – such as Mario blocks that double as cosy perches for the resident cats – transform the cafe into a vibrant sanctuary.

The true heart of the cafe beats within its drinks menu, offering the comforting familiarity of nostalgic cafe staples complemented by the unique addition of speciality Chinese teas at £2.60. Their tea and coffee is supplied locally, proudly sourced from beloved family businesses Ringtons and Pumphreys Coffee.

The food menu embraces simplicity, offering a classic selection of toasties, sandwiches and scones, whilst boasting an impressive array of cakes sourced locally from The Pudding Parlour, starting at £1.50. Cat lovers will adore this charming and quirky cafe just a short step out of Bigg Market, where the cats are not only relaxed and content but also very obviously well-loved.

The space is filled with sofas draped in soft blankets and large cushions, and no matter where you look, there is something to delight a cat – whether it be toys, towers, or quiet corners where the moggies can retreat and relax if they so wish. Love and care are poured into every detail.

Like CatPawCino, the menu is locally sourced and delightfully uncomplicated, offering classic choices such as their ‘pawninis’ and scones, starting at £3.95, that can be paired with their indulgent warm brownies with chocolate sauce, priced the same. A rich hot chocolate, topped generously with cream and marshmallows, completes the offering at £3.75.

The £7 entry fee is worth every penny. Inside, there are a handful of tables scattered around a generous open space in the centre of the room, and whilst this cafe may offer less entertainment for its resident cats, they are far from lacking in energy as the most social and playful on the list.

You Meow is a love letter to feline companionship and is entirely unique in the sense that it doesn’t offer food at all – the culinary experience takes a backseat to let the cats shine.
