An original character is a character created independently by a creator (an individual or an organisation), and for non-commercial creators the concept of “original character” is as widely used as that of homoerotic works. Depending on the field of creation, the vehicle for an original character theoretically includes, but is not limited to, anime, manga, games, and novels. It can be purely original, a character created to allow people to share a particular worldview and setting, or a derivative creative element related to an existing work.
