Pippa Gilroy, 23, is a food and lifestyle vlogger from the North East. The self proclaimed ‘foodie’ has been vlogging her travels around different food spots across the North East for just over a year on her TikTok account @gilroypippa which has since gained over 23.9 thousand followers.

Pippa originally started out as a fashion content creator over on her Instagram @pippagilroy until the blogger did a complete 180 and started posting content over on TikTok.
“I realise I wanted to showcase local businesses in my content as I love the city of Newcastle so much. Now my complete focus is being a foodie lifestyle creator”
Over the past couple of months, Pippa’s following and engagement over on her Tiktok account has grown substantially, racking up over 869.3 thousand likes across her profile. The local influencer states her TikTok has “blown up really now that I’ve found my footing”. One of her latest hits, a TikTok reviewing ‘Monk Bar Chocolatiers’ in York, saw over 2 million views. This was “insane” and “a bit of a turning point” for Pippa as she was not expecting the video to blow up so quickly.
Pippa saw TikTok as a bit of a side hustle as she began posting videos as a freelance content creator alongside studying her masters degree in ‘Digital Marketing’ at Northumbria University. Since finishing her degree, Pippa has been focusing on her content full time, whilst looking to pursue a career in marketing.
Throughout her time as an influencer, Pippa has worked closely with multiple local brands and businesses with her favourite being ‘The Botanist restaurant’ on Northumberland Street in Newcastle. Pippa creates user generated content (UGCs) for the restaurant’s TikTok page @thebotanistnwtc and really enjoys working here as she describes it as being “a really beautiful place to shoot content in”. Pippa has previously worked for Golf Fang in Newcastle creating UGCs across their social media accounts which is a lot of fun for her given the wild and crazy atmosphere there.

One of Pippa’s main influences starting out was seeing content from TikTok creator ‘Rebecca Baty’ who is famously known as @rebbeebee18 on TikTok and Instagram and who was her “literal motivation to begin creating local content”.
Pippa has since met other local food bloggers such as Abby from @newcastlecravings on TikTok and Mia from the @yorkshirelassinnewcastle Tiktok account who also create content exploring local food businesses in the North East. These are creators Pippa loves learning and growing with when it comes to creating this style of content.
Pippa has been given many exciting opportunities since starting TikTok however has recently been met with her most exciting event so far as she was invited to the opening night of the brand new ‘Greggs Bistro’ which is a fine dining experience in Fenwicks, Newcastle.

Other stand out events for Pippa include the launch party for Frate, an outdoor bar in Newcastle city centre, serving street foods, pizzas and cocktails, and the opening night of ‘Lazy Bear’ back in 2022. ‘Lazy Bear’ is a tipi pop up bar near Central Station in Newcastle which launched its opening with a spread of cakes and brownies.
I asked Pippa her favourite Restaurant in Newcastle and one took the lead by far. ‘Scream for Pizza’ in Sandyford always stands out for Pippa.
“I remember trying it for the first time and thinking this is the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Lovely little atmosphere in the restaurant too and the staff are fab”
Another favourite for Pippa is ‘Oki Poke’ on St Andrew Street in Newcastle. When Pippa was still living in Newcastle she was a regular here and go come every week!

Pippa has said she will continue creating content both on her TikTok and Instagram profiles and if given the opportunity, would love to create content full time as a career.
